Lambda Rising Event

Posted in Events on May 25, 2009 by Craig Gidney

The Lambda Rising event was a great success! I was on a spirited panel with Redbone Press publisher Lisa C. Moore, author G. Winston James, and poet Pamela Sneed. About 30-40 people were present. The staff at Lambda Rising Bookstore asked us a few questions, mostly about publishing and writing as POC LGTB (lots of acronyms!), opened up the floor for questions for about 15 minutes. About 4 copies of Sea, Swallow Me were signed and sold.

After Elton mentioned Sea, Swallow Me in a brief round up of current fiction, here. (It’s at the very end.)

I just finished editing the text of a forthcoming romantic fantasy for Lethe Press, Dan Stone’s The Rest of Our Lives.  I think people will like this mix of romance, magic and mayhem.  The potential cover is below.

I am now the managing editor at Lethe Press.  One of my goals is to get the Tincture imprint–which focuses on writing by g/l/t/b of color — off the ground.  I’ve been doing it for a little under month, and I’m enjoying helping other authors and bring books to life immensely.

Review in Chroma

Posted in Reviews on March 4, 2009 by Craig Gidney

The UK-based online literary and arts journal Chroma reviewed Sea, Swallow Me:

Each story in the collection is uniquely structured and laden with rich informed details showing that the writer has a strong sense of craft while being able to explore variations on his central themes of identity, alienation and the interplay of the supernatural with the real world. The intriguing set of characters’ flirtations with what is divine lead to surprising discoveries. These stories are engrossing, each confidently and imaginatively narrated while incorporating elements of mythology with a modern sensibility.

Reading at the DC Center

Posted in Events on February 20, 2009 by Craig Gidney

craig-readingAround 40 people showed up for my reading/signing.  I thank them all for their support.  My publisher, Steve Berman of Lethe Press, sent me the beautiful lilies that are next to me.  I read portions of The Safety of Thorns and Her Spirit Hovering, and I read Magpie Sisters in it’s entirety.

I am completely overjoyed.
